Hi all,
I wanted to mail some 2 oz. bars I have prepared to some friends, one as far away as Hong Kong. What is the best way to ship them? I was just thinking of wrapping the bars in aluminium foil, then placing the wrapped bars in a plastic baggie and placing the baggie in bubble-wrapped envelope and using US Post. Would this be best? I don't need to be fancy, these aren't gifts or for special occasions. Also assuming the bars are tempered properly, I am assuming they should survive OK and not melt, even on the long journey to Hong Kong. Maybe this could serve as a test as to how well my finished product is!
Thanks for any advice

Depending on where they're going, it may be prudent to include some sort of thermal protection. Here in Guatemala, anywhere outside of the capital (which is at 5000 ft and rarely gets hot) requires careful packaging and some sort of cooling. For bars I use these padded nylon lunchboxes which are dirt cheap here ($4) and an ice pack from Cameron Packaging ( www.cameronpackaging.com ). Each lunchbox fits 40-50 bars plus the ice pack. For smaller orders or bonbons I line a cardboard box with styrofoam and include an ice pack anyway. The Hong Kong thing might be a little tougher, as the ice packs last 2-3 days tops.

Cheebs; Thanks for the link! Those hydratable ice packs are pretty nifty. I've bookmarked the site for future reference. Cheers. Brad www.SoChoklat.com
