Barley malt extract should have little if any fat at all.
Powdered barley malt is not the same as powdered barley malt extract.
Barley malt--or malted barley--is grains of barley that have been allowed to sprout slightly, and then have been dried. If you grind this, you have barley malt powder--or malted barley powder.
Barley malt extract is when barley malt has been cracked and mixed with water to extract the sugars and flavor of the malted barley. This liquid is then reduced and sold as a syrup, or reduced further until dry and powdered. Both of these are called barley malt extract, they simply take different forms.
