Hi all,
I am brainstorming on ways to grind nibs to produce larger quantities of liquor prior to putting it in the santha. The champion juicer works well for small batches, but if I want to scale-up what type of machinery is out there that might serve the same function, but deliver larger quantities while staying within a reasonable price range?
Thanks for all those posting in response!

You might think of a Nixtamal grinder. It's normally used to grind corn into masa, but I've seen it used for making liquor. Depending on your location, they may be easy to find if there's a large Mexican or Central American community in the vicinity. Normally they run in the $200 range plus motor and base. You can see one in action in my cocoa butter production video here: chocolatetalk.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=cocoa&action=display&thread=497It can be seen around the 1:26 mark.

Thanks, Cheebs. Awesome video. What is that cocoa press called that makes it into butter?

I own one for wheat grinding. HORRIBLE for cocoa. Very hard to grind and the burrs load after no time (ounces) at all. Much more high end, but the Olde Tyme Peanut grinders you see in health food stores will grind cocoa. I have one (for sale if anyone is interested) and it does about 2-3 lbs/min with no input except to keep the hopper full.

Yep, that is the one. Works great. Go for used though if you can find them New is pricey and they are built like tanks. Every couple weeks they are on ebay.

Regarding the Olde Tyme grinder: Does this grinder work perfectly for grinding cocoa into "liqueur" or are there any issues etc.?
I may have access to one.
Thank you so much in advance,
TonyC
