I figure I might let the cat out of the bag. South Africa is the best kept secret when it comes to molds. Anyone wanting reasonable priced molds can contact barco.sandra@mweb.co.za. The exchange rate makes this a very attractive alternative and her service is World Class. You may mention my name. T

What great timing! Due to ongoing release mark frustrations, I've just been looking at molds. Are these the thick polycarbonate type?

You can get them from Barco. Like everywhere else to get a custom mold is expensive but because of the exchange of 7:1 you score big time. Give Sandra a call. T

I hear the frustration over release marks, Ben! And thanks for the wonderful tip, Tony. Are you currently using these molds and have you found them to be high-quality enough to minimize/eliminate release marks?

Hi Oaxacalote and Ben, I didn't get any release marks. Naturally there are hobby and professional molds. Both in my experience are good. The hobby at 0.5mm, are a bit thin but I asked Sandra to make me a hobby grade in 1.5mm plastic and lost a little resolution on the logo. So I sent for a set in 1mm plastic. They haven't arrived yet but I'm sure they will work out fine. I need transparent molds to see the degree of release on the mold side. It stops me from hurrying up the mold. Wink Wink, know what I mean, know what I mean!!!

Did anyone ever got a chance to try Barco moulds? I'm looking into putting up an order on custom moulds and I'd like to hear your opinion before proceeding.

They said that the molds are "thin plastic molds". Is it easy to mould, vibrating and clean the excess like in polycarbonate ones?

Hi, I bought my custom molds a while ago, they have prominent release marks that can not be avoided, in the 0.5mm transparent mold and 1mm opaque white molds. Now, I really don't what to do and also very disappointed, mainly because her "regular" molds are very good .
