i'm about to make a batch of goat's milk chocolate form the recipe given on this site and i noticed one page says the recipe makes a 40% cocoa batch and the other says 45%, however, in both cases the % cacao liquor plus % added cocoa butter equal 40%.
is there a typo somewhere or am i not understanding how to calculate the %?

My guess is that it's a typo. Total liquor + total cocoa butter = cocoa content. You are correct in your understanding of calculating percentages.
