How difficult is constantly getting good cacao beans going to be? I hear some tales that the crops are having difficulties and that only certain companies can get the really good ones. I really want to invest in equipment to pursue this passion. I was totally delighted to see Mr. Nanci's site and all the help that is there for us. I guess what I am really asking is what the future of cacao beans looks like. The reading that I have done has introduced me to the politics of the areas, the diseases that can ruin crops and other things that can prevent good crops from being had. I am in no way interested in running/having a business, but, I would like to be able to really get into manufacturing my own chocolate. I would hate, now that John has developed the means to manufacture chocolate at home, to not be able to have access to good cacao beans in the future. Is all the "stuff' that I am hearing not true? I hope that I am being a worry-wart and that I can roll around in cacao beans to my hearts content. Doris

it's a huge potential issue. Quality is down across the boards, political instability will likely only get worse. Climactic conditions are changing. Many companies have research underway howver, to address some of these things, but it'll take time.
