I wanted to make John Nanci's DIY winnower with PVC pipe but I'm having a surprisingly challenging time sourcing all the correct parts. Next best option seems to be his Sylph Winnower but after shipping it's close to $300 and I'm hoping not to spend that much.
Thanks.

Thanks Thomas. Plans! I love a good DIY build!
I did the 'drop cracked beans in front of a fan' method today for the first time. I was separating by hand before that. Worked pretty well and got my brain thinking about a design built around that. End result was pretty good but a bit tedious and time consuming.
Anyway, I'll check out the plan you sent.

It's surprising to hear that you're having issues sourcing the parts. Which in particular are you missing?

The ball valves only come in threaded versions and in order to connect some of the pieces, I have to buy a length of PVC pipe to cut and use as couplers and I think the shortest one in the proper diameter is something like 10 feet which is way more than I need or want.
John Nanci also told me to look for the DW or PW designation on the PVC to indicate it's food safe and I didn't see that on any of them.
And the only wyes I could find were 3" all around rather than 3x3x2.
Seems like it should be super easy to get these parts at a place like Home Depot but not my Home Depot.
