Well,
My grand opening for my grand Choklat concept shop has come and gone.
It was an unqualified success.
People couldn't believe we were making truffles to order in less than 15 minutes!!!
They loved the idea of being able to choose exactly what they wanted.
They had no problems with the online system we use for our cash register. In fact many customers had PayPal accounts!
Today's sales figures were an astounding first day's figures of: 108 truffles and 932 bars!
I'm a tired, yet happy camper. ;D ;D ;D
Tomorrow promises to be busier yet, as it's a Saturday in a trendy area where many people come to stroll through the shops.

Hey Everyone, The shop's now been open a week, and the response has been outstanding all the way around. We've already been published in a popular local paper (article below) www.ffwdweekly.com/article/life-style/food/choose-your-own-chocolate-adventure/I've also already been approached by several other food related magazines, which will be writing articles on this business in the upcoming months. We've also been visited by several local food critics who didn't believe for one minute that I was actually making chocolate. After giving them the tour, demonstrating to them our business model, and of course letting them sample some of the chocolate I've been making, they've all fallen in love with this new venture of mine. I've also already been contacted by two chefs from "The Food Network". Oh.. and the most important thing: Choklat will be profitable it's first month in business - typically one of the slowest months of the year, and in spite of not spending one dime on advertising. 3 years of research and late nights in the kitchen are finally paying off. Thank God.

Brad, that's fantastic! I've been reading your posts since I started playing with chocolate a couple of years ago and you're passion and dedication to your project is inspiring. I have no desire to sell my own chocolate, but it's great to see someone else manifest their dreams You have a very well done website, very nice feel to it and easy to navigate:) Youre shop sounds like a great place to visit, Calgary is very lucky...... Are you able to ship to the USA? I'd love to try some of your products...... Congratulations, robert

Updates.... Hmmmm.... Where to start....
My website has had over 1.2 million hits since opening in August, Choklat been picked up by every major newspaper and television network in our area, we've received fabulous radio exposure (was on CBC radio yesterday), customer response is fabulous, I've had to employ 4 people full time already, and most of all the business is very profitable, and has been since the doors opened. This week alone will see my staff make over 4,000 truffles.
... and all of this accomplished in only 4 months, with no money spent on marketing - just word of mouth.
I'm now putting together the infrastructure to expand into 5 more locations throughout western Canada.
Anyone out there interested in making chocolate and owning a successful business?
If so, contact me at BradC@SoChoklat.com
Best Regards, Brad Churchill.

If by 'western' canada you mean 'southcentral' pa.....sure Brad, count me in:)
Sounds great though......it's been exciting to read of your success. Best of luck to you.
My wife and I just started our own coffee roasting biz back in July and I'm just starting to dabble with the chocolate making now too (for my wife for christmas) . I know, I know, I should put this in the 'intro' thread.
but I'm bidding on juicers and scouring for santhas as we speak (type).
