Hi, I've been online searching for information about making chocolate (candies, not actual chocolate as many of you do) and stumbled on this website for an online school and was wondering if anyone had seen this, was familiar with it or had any opinion about it. www.ecolechocolat.com/index.phpI do not live near any cooking schools and was wondering if I might actually get anything useful from this program. Thanks!

Hi - I "attended" the Ecole Chocolat from Jan-Mar of this year. I knew nothing about creating gourmet/artisan chocolates when I entered the course. The only relationship I had with chocolate was eating it! I, too, do not have such a class close by and this seemed like the next best thing. I found it was tough in certain assignments not to have an experienced person next to me to say "yes, that is how to temper couverture" or "no, you fool, try again!" I also felt lacking in knowledge/experience compared to some of my classmates who were starting their own business or already working in a retail candy shop. I probably put too much pressure on myself to do well because of the cost - be prepared to spend $ on supplies as the course progresses (beyond the list they give you to start). I learned a lot and managed to graduate with an A (86%) despite my insecurities. If you have any specific questions, I'll be happy to answer if I can Chocolate Obsessed
