Hi, I've made only 5 batches with the Santha and now it has stopped working. What I mean by this is that I hear the motor running, but the center of the base isn't rotating. I have two Santhas and the other one rotates just fine. I wonder if the belt is broken but before I take it apart (as I"m a little intimidated by taking apart a machine ), I was wondering if anyone has a clue to offer me? Thanx, Heather

Hi Heather,
I saw your PM and will check in with you. Everyone, I don't mind the discussion of problems, but please email me directly for much faster service. I should, but don't check the forum every day.
I does sound like a broken or loose belts. I have spares I can get out to you.

Yo Lady,
Take the thing apart. The are very simple machines and easy to fix whatever the problem may be. Do not be afraid, it will go back together. Like the others suggested, its probably a nut or something. The Santhas are great for the fact that they are simple and reliable. Note, if you do not feel comfortable lets say changing a tire on your car or the windshield wipers then this may be too big of a project. Other than that, the whole thing can be done with a wrench and a screwdriver. Sounds like your new boyfriend Brad can walk you through it, we at the forum will not tell your husband! Good luck.
DO IT.

I had the same problem. I was afraid to take my Santha apart at first. Once I did I was surprised at how easy it was. All I had to do was take the top off and tighten the belt. It has worked fine since.

I want to know how where to get one of the belts from the Santha company but they have very round about ways of attaining them. Does anyone have any ideas/answers on how to get a hold of a belt? Thanks, Al

Hi Everyone,
The belt wasn't broken. The capacitor was fried.

Aloha santha people! One of my small santhas just went down and it was one of the bearings. Actually the upper bearing above the motor not the one that turns the belt. The capacitors are real weak in regards to start up in a thick substance{chocolate mass} They will do the job fine once the mixture is warmed and thinned out. I suggest start with small amounts and add to it slowly. I too am looking into a new motor{more torque]. Were looking into washing machine motors. It was always the gears that went in the washers not the motors. keep on turning!!! Sharkman

I usually start my machine up with the melted cocoa butter, and work my way up to the thicker ingredients. It doesn't seem to strain the motor as much (of course, that didn't stop the belt on my S20 from breaking, but I have a feeling they shipped it with a really cheap belt because it had been shedding from the first time I ran the thing...).
