Hi:
I think my premier wonder grinder's work bowl has developed a kink in the metal? It's not the seam. I don't recall it having this when I got it. The unit has also been making a rhythmic noise that might correlate to this kink? I don't think it really impacts performance, other than the irritating sound.
Enjoy your weekend.

Can you see a kink in the metal bowl? I would suspect gear or belt wear. Both will wear over time. Although the belt not so much if you have a polyurethane belt,

I've only used it 5 or 6 times now. This is the specific "chocolate" one through Amazon. How would the belt cause a kink in the metal bowl? Or are you saying the belt is causing the noise? If the latter, I thought it could be the scraper as it "jumps" across the kink, but the noise isn't as frequent as the rpm, so maybe it is the belt. Sheesh, no wonder this thing is so cheap. Here are a couple pictures, one inside, one outside. Attachments:

Hi Jano,
Your original post stated: 'I think my premier wonder grinder's work bowl has developed a kink in the metal?'. So I didn't know if you could see a kink or thought there was one causing the noise. I have two of the original Premiers and changed the gears, belts, and bearing after much use. As the gears and belt wear, they will start to make more noise. The "chocolate" Premier has the better link belt and also a better bearing but the gears are the same. At least they look the same to me when I upgraded mine. Yours also has the polyurethane link belt which will probably last longer than then grinder itself.
It does look like the kink is at the same position of the scraper. You could try running it without the bowl and also with bowl an no stone wheels. Maybe this would help narrow down what is casing the noise. There are no adjustment for the gears and belt. If you want to do even more investigation, take the cover off and run it. You can then watch the gears and belt while it is running. Of course this would be without the bowl.
Regards,
Thomas

Okay, I see.
Let's concentrate on the kink instead of the noise for now, because it concerns me how it got there. It wasn't there before that I can remember? I only noticed it this last time while washing it, when the sponge/hand connection felt the crease.
I have not dropped it or bonked it or anything. I did accidentally seize the unit at the second run after seasoning, when I was trying out a nut butter and added the sugar too fast. Other than that, I've been delicate in handling it.
It's almost as if the metal warped or something? Hmmm.

My guess is that it occurred when the unit seized which pushed the scraper into the bowl or vice-versa. I say that because the bowl and wheels can still move back and forth a little even when the top lock nut is tight. From the photo, the crease looks like it lines up with the scraper and it goes from the inside out. Neither of mine have a crease and one has been in use for almost two years. About 50 batches of chocolate on it and about 10 on my other one.
Maybe someone else has other ideas as that's all I can think of.

I've used a few of these machines now and a few of the Santhas.
Is it affecting the chocolate making? That's the key question.
I have a few bowls with dints and a few wheel sets that don't move as efficiently as they could. But all of them still work - they grind the chocolate to a suitable particle size. Looking at your pics, maybe a little bit of chocolate gets caught in the kink, but that can be scraped out while the bowl is moving if need be. We all like our equipment to be perfect, but the truth of manufacturing is that wear and tear happens on machines.

Well, it's working fine, no issues or strange noises, just finished some chocolate . Still perplexed how that crease got there. Oh, well.
