Sorry for cross posting but this thread seems to have more people in it - one of the stone wheels on my tilting Premier wonder grinder has decided to stop turning...any clues? Only 1300g of product in there (1kg nibs, rest sugar and a little cocoa butter).
Seemed fine a few hours ago - now into 8+ hours of grinding. I've done much longer though. Thankfully it's still under warranty...just in case.

Annnnnnnnnnd..............it's fixed.
Just had to strip down the wheels and clean it all out completely.
For anyone else encountering the same issue; this is what worked for me:
Undo nuts on wheels and remove wheels Clean every bit of the wheel assembly using very hot water (no detergent) Dry thoroughly with paper towels Dry it again...no really ...dry it again... Final dry with hair dryer, especially the central hole on the wheels (don't want water hiding in there!) Reassemble wheel assembly Put back in machine Curse that you knocked the scraper out of line and spend several messy minutes fixing it in situ Finish.. Pray... Do happy dance
Return to prod it nervously at intervals....this step is optional.

Maybe too much cocoa butter in the mix? I've had wheels stop for two reasons:
1. Not enough friction (too much cocoa butter, slipped on bottom) 2. Product solidified inside the axle.
When wheel stuck, I removed product, cleaned axle and resumed grinding.

I remove the wheels and clean the axels after each use. Otherwise, the chocolate will build up on the axels.

Thank you chaps - I had a mild panic last night...hence the two posts about the wheels. However; had I stopped to look at it logically first I probably would have worked it out much sooner! Turns out the axle is simpler than I expected (for some reason I thought it was a sealed unit...no idea why).
So yes - it was product caught in the axle hole. I didn't consider cleaning the axles after each use but obviously I now will...if only for hygiene reasons!
And for teh record - definitely wasn't too much cocoa butter. I only used 50g in a recipe with a total mass of 1300g. Just enough to raise the fat content to a better level (for my purpose) and to provide a vehicle for vanilla infusion.
Anyway - panic over!
Now I just have to master caramels...........and everything else....
