So I started a batch of dark milk chocolate yesterday in a fairly new Premier Wet Grinder, the 1.5l. I've only used it maybe 3 times? Anyways, I woke up this morning upstairs in my bedroom with smoke everywhere. The premier had been on all night and had caught fire downstairs in the kitchen. The motor was burning. I put it out and have since cleaned up. Please no I told you so's......I just wanted to give you all a warning that these things can happen. I've never had this problem with any of my other premiers (the 2L) or a really old 80's santha I had. It was really cold last night, maybe that caused the chocolate to get too thick and stop the wheels running which caused the motor to overheat? Maybe there was too much in there? Who knows. But really scary, I was lucky nothing really bad happened.

Yikes! I'm glad everything (except the premier) is ok!
I'm surprised that it would catch fire. I would have assumed the motor would turn off if it overheated. I wonder if the overheat protection malfunctioned or if there isn't one.

That's the problem with these machines. They are not, and never were designed for continual use and/or grinding cocoa.
I always ran mine in the middle of my basement floor. I kind of expected it to catch fire at some point....
