I'm having a hard time finding a nice 50g chocolate mold in New Zealand. Yes I could import some but not keen on paying $220NZ for post for a couple of plastic molds.
So I'm looking at making my own molds. Is anyone doing this?, it does not look too hard to do.
If i was to get someone to make them for me I would be looking at about $500 for a template then about $15 a mold. I feel ripped off.
What are you thoughts and ideas?

Hi RQute, That's exactly the video I watched to think about making similar custom molds, and how some semi-pro chocolate makers have suggested making them cheap. You just have to pick a thickness of plastic for the vacu-form molds that's a good balance of thin enough to get good detail, yet thick enough that your molds will last after being on the vibrating table or slammed on the counter. ____________________ Nat Bletter, PhD Chocolate Flavormeister Madre Chocolate madrechocolate.com

I'll let you know how this system works... purchased a vac-forming table and a few different types and thicknesses of plastic sheet. Should all arrive next week.
