Just to give a little background... I'm trying to take on a very ambitious project for my girlfriend's birthday coming up. We have an ongoing joke about how she is going to "Hulk smash" me. She is 5'2" on a good day, and tiny. So I thought it would be quite amusing to make a chocolate mold out of hulk hands that I bought off eBay and give them to her as a surprise. This is where I need some (or a lot of) help.
I have 0 (yes z.e.r.o) experience when working with chocolate, but I feel I'm smart enough, and have the patience to get this done.
This is what I'll be working with:
Just to give you an idea, each hand is 10x8x5, so they're pretty big.
There is a local chocolate shop that she always goes to when she comes to see me, and she loves their uber (their term) dark chocolate bars. I figured I would buy a bunch of those to work with.
My major question is what EXACTLY do I need to buy to make the mold? I'm assuming I'll use a two part mold. I came across this site, but I want to be certain of what I need, and what I'm ordering before I buy everything.
www.shopchefrubber.com/
If anyone has another site that may be cheaper, or better, I'm all ears. This was the first I came across.
I know that I need to keep the bottom open in order to fill the mold once it is complete, that I need to meticulously clean the hulk hands, and fill the speaker holes before casting the mold. I know air bubbles are a concern. So I have done reading.
I'm sure I'll post pictures when I'm done.... if I'm successful.
Thanks for any help, or suggestions!
Brian
