I'm really new to this.... and I just put some sugar in the bowl for the first time to clean it out. The bowl of the santha seems off balance or off kilter... it that normal? It makes a rhythmic sound on each rotation as the bowl comes close to that arm.
I've never seen one of these in action before so I'm not sure if this is right or not....
Thanks!

The tightness of the belt affects the angle of the large wheel spinning the drum. On the spectra 10 you can adjust the position of the motor or replace the stock belt with a V-Twist to change the tightness of the belt.
As I've noted on another thread, the granite rollers Santha provides are often not perfectly symmetrical, which also could put the drum out of balance.

I am having a similar issue, all of the sudden. This most recent batch is really loud! It is also a rhythmic sound in the rotation. I replaced the belt on my Santha a few batches ago after it seized up and ran all night with the belt slipping while the chocolate sat still. Luckily it was the belt that fried and not the motor. I guess I will take it apart tomorrow and check if the new belt is shredded already. I wonder why it all of the sudden started making this sound.
After the belt is replaced, what is usually the next thing to go? I was thinking the nylon knuckle that holds the stone bolts. I might have mildly cross threaded them which might mess with the balance. I want the stainless one next. Any thoughts?

I spoke to a guy from Santha and he said that a little wobble is ok, so I adusted the arm inward so it would stop scratching that one spot on the drum.... seems to be working ok now.

Yeah, I learned the hard way to avoid having the scraper arm rub against the side of the drum. IIt would be nice to get a closer scrape on the side of the drum, but it's not easily possible or necessary.

So is this normal?
I just got mine and did one batch and the sound is definitely rythmic. Wuah, wuah, wuah, wuah. I figured it wouldn't be silent and it's not super loud but the pulsing might end up being annoying to my neighbors (compared to white noise which is easily ignored).
I just figured it wasn't perfect but if it's supposed to be...
I should note that it's no worse than my de-humidifier which also has a pulsing type sound and is louder if anything.

I had a little problem with my drum and a little wobble too. But the drum stone had moved a little so it got it pushed back in and it stopped the wobble. The stone had come loose a little. After one batch I was lifting the drum off and the whole stone and all the chocolate dropped out and smashed on the ground.
