This is my first holiday as a business. My family is used to getting mistakes and good things that I make. Some offer to buy and some offer to "get my name out there" if I give it to them. "You can use it as a deduction!" Well, I really need to make a profit to take a deduction.... Any thoughts would be helpful.

I don't make chocolates for profit but do help run an un-related business: my advice would be don't give away things for free. Charge full price for all your chocolates or no price at all if they're a gift. It is very hard to give someone an "introductory" price and then jack it up later when you decide to cover costs - they'll feel that they are over-paying at the higher price. Also, if people are offering to get your name out there, they need to do it at the correct price point, not a subsidised level.
