The concher thingy doesn't seem to be anything more than a few slabs of stone (e.g. marble) rotated by a motor.
I have some left-over motors in my closet from various sources (mostly car parts, like the blower motor or window motors). A heating element could be added, too.
....Hmmm. I can get my hands on granite and/or marble and shape them.
Has anyone attempted something like this?

yes. i recall seeing someone on a coffee board i think it was, turn a couple of coffee cans filled with concrete into a rotary mill. balancing the load was challenging if i recall. and it's likely not food grade

The cool thing about the blower motor is that they are designed to run for a long time... if the power is too weak, could go junkyard hunting and put a few in tandem. Oh oh, this could be fun.
I will try searching the internet for the cofee can/concrete mill, thanks!

**Alchemist raises his hand**
I started to try this some years ago. The biggest issue is that granite is H A R D and basically needs to be professionally cut and shaped. Any and everything I tried, with GREAT patience just failed completely. Either I destroyed tools or shattered the granite (marble is way to soft BTW).
Although I've not tried it, I suspect it would be way easier (and really read, way less expensive) to add external heat to one of the Melangers, and raise the wheels (just flip it over) so they only stir and don't refine.
