I recently finished my first batch of what I would actually call chocolate bars. 75% dark Peruvian cacao, and this time, my temper worked and the bars were nice and shiny! I have a new problem now, however. Up to this point, I've just been wrapping stuff in tin foil, or even more lazily, putting a bunch of bars in a plastic bag, this is fine for giving sample to friends, but obviously not if I want to sell anyone a bar!
What kind of wrappings and what kind of paper/foil do people use? Where do you buy the paper, do you cut it into appropriately sized squares yourself, then wrap individual bars? Any links to paper/foil would be incredibly helpful... I want something which is pretty cheap (so no custom printed boxes, I don't even need to print on the paper right now...) if I can find some kind of thin waxed paper and gold foil I was thinking of wrapping the bars first with waxed paper, then foil on the outside, then wrap a 'band' of paper around the width on which I can write my name and whatever else.
Thanks!

I buy my foil squares pre-cut from the Revere group www.glerup.com They sell 1000-square packages. If you don't want to buy that many at a time, Sugarcraft (.com) has them in 125-square packages. Both come with a paper square if you want to use it. Revere also has paper-backed foil which is the foil and paper fused together. For the labels, for now, I'm using the paper bands you mention, printed on my computer. I just closed the deal though, to have proper boxes made out of kraft paper with one color printing, by far the cheapest box option. I'm now looking into a method of substituting the foil for a machine wrapping with metallized polypropilene.

You could go to Wal-mart in the cake decorating area and get a roll of Wilton foil paper. You can cut it yourself to whatever size you want. foilman.com/ has some pre-cut sheets, they aren't that expensive for small purchases. Andrea

Wow! nice! Just beautiful! Did you have a professional take the picture? If you did it what equipment did you use? The link you gave is not working. I'll try agian tomorrow.

I took the picture myself, using a Fuji S20 Pro on a tripod with natural light aided by a Quantaray reflector. The link is fixed now, the mistake was mine, sorry.

Those are actually stock molds available from many different vendors (Tomric, Chef Rubber, etc) but I've been buying more and more from Chocolat-Chocolat in Canada, who seem to have the lowest prices. If you want custom-made molds Tomric will do it, as will Valrhona (but you can imagine the price for those!). There's also a Mexican outfit called Moldes Intermex (.com) that does custom molds for a lot less. Their site is in Spanish but the contact info is there and I'm sure if you write to them in English they will respond.

Thanks! I try to buy packaging boxes from this company. You can also visit them just click on the packaging boxes text or you can click on this link as well. www.printingblue.com/packagingboxes-printing.asp And there are many other companies as well where you can search on Google.
