Chocolate companies already under scrutiny by U.S., Canadian and European antitrust authorities now are getting hit with lawsuits alleging they engaged in price fixing, with the latest complaints coming from major retail customers.
Giant Eagle Inc., a Pittsburgh supermarket chain, filed suit last week in U.S. District Court in Pittsburgh against Hershey Co., Mars Inc., Nestlé SA, Cadbury Schweppes PLC and Itwal Ltd., a Canadian network of distributors, accusing the companies of colluding since 2002..."

They all get there cocoa beans from the same factory! They don't actually make their beans from scratch. Most of the chocolate companies have the factory roast, grind, and process the beans into liquor and the companies take it from there. Since there prices to make the chocolate are soo similar, they can price fix with the other companies that do the same thing, so everyone makes a buck. Plus, its truly sad that they don't actually make their chocolate from scratch like most people do, at least the people who make chocolate at home like myself. Any way, chocolate is a business not a stride to quality, at least the the big companies.
