My custom bar mold is almost done (yay!) and I'm on to the stage where I'm figuring out how to wrap my bars for a nice presentation but also freshness.
It seems like all the bars out there for purchase are in some way packaged in a sealed material whether it's plastic or something else.
I really don't like the idea of using plastic because (a) it's plastic and (b) it takes away from the presentation.
At most, my bars might be sold at the local grocery store but no wider in scope than that.
Do I need to seal my bars in something or is foil sufficient? This would be inside a decorative paper wrapper. I'm just wondering about maintaining freshness and keeping them free from who knows what that might compromise an unsealed material (like foil).

You can buy inner wrappers here: www.alufoil.com/chocolate-bar-wrap-foil.htmlBut you will still need some type of outer wrapper. I’ve printed my own at home in the past. It just some work as you will need to cut them to size. I think regular foil will be problematic for anything other than bite size chocolates.

I appreciate the reply, Thomas, but I'm not looking for a source for foil. I already have foil. What I'm wondering is if the bars necessarily need to be sealed or if just wrapping in foil with an outer wrapper is sufficient. Of course this is fine for family and friends but is it ok if I actually end up selling it?

It may be worth it to check with the local health department where the items are going to be sold. Different countries, states, counties, cities can have different requirements and are the authority on food packaging requirements.

Many makers just have folded foil or glassine bags as an inner wrapper so I'm sure that will also be fine for your circumstances. Hey, if it's good enough for Dandelion, it's good enough for you :-)
