Hello everyone I just started using Spectra 11 and have an issue. I read through the Alchemist instructions on adding the nibs very slowly, one handful at a time. I also heat the melangeur bowl and rollers with hair dryer. However the stone rollers stop turning when we start adding nibs. The first time they stopped the nibs were not liquid yet. The second time they stopped the nibs were already like paste/liquid. When we started adding slowly a little bit more nibs they stopped again. We worked only with 1kg nibs in total, so we didn't overload the machine. Is there something we are doing wrong? And is there something to do in that case when the wheels stop, I am not sure if it is the normal behavior. Thank you so much !

annazh, When you start off, is the knob that controls the pressure on the top of the center post all the way loose, or even off when you start?

Did you find a solution? I noticed the first time I used my Spectra 11, only one wheel was rolling. It turned out that I needed to take the wheels out and rotate them 180° within the tub. When I did that, both wheels made contact and spin when the melanger is running. (I thought Alchemist John was being funny about the wheels being "upside down". Maybe he was, but turning the wheel assembly around worked for me.)

Oh, I also just realized that sometimes nibs get "stuck" under the wheel which stops the rotation. They eventually work their way out though.

Thank you guys! Yes we worked the things out, but time to time it get stuck again even when the nibs already have turned into smooth paste

I'm a little concerned when you state that the rollers stop when the nibs are "a thick paste". What else is in the mix with the nibs? Do you pre-heat the ingredients?
