I purchased a Spectra 20 melanger about six months ago, and have made a number of batches with it after getting is set up in my space. But recently it has stopped working. The transformer starts up as normal, but the speed controller does not turn on, the light does not come on, the melanger does not start when I move the speed dial. I get nothing.
I unplugged everything and left it for a couple days, then plugged everything back in and attempted to start it up again. Nothing happened.
I was wondering if anyone here has seen something similar, or if anyone had any thoughts or suggestions.
Thanks

Have you checked all the internal connections between the various parts? It sounds like something may have come loose. I'm not sure if it has a fuse or not, but if it does, check to see if it's blown.
When you say the speed controller doesn't turn on, do you mean the digital display showing the numbers, or the light-up switch? Can you post a picture?

Thanks, I will take a look at those internal connections, and look if there is a fuse. I looked at all the external connections to makes sure they were all connected. On the speed controller, nothing happens. The digital display does not turn on, the light up switch does not light up, the rpm dial does nothing. I will take a photo and post it this afternoon.

It took me a couple days to get my hands on the right tool to get the cover off. so Here is a picture of the inside of the Spectra 20 speed control box. I wasn't able to see anything that looked damaged.

Did you confirm that all of the wires are connected firmly? If so, it could be that the VFD (speed controller) needs to be replaced.

Have you tried flicking off & on both those switches in the top right hand corner. They might just be sticking 'off'.
I'd also expect there is a fuse inside that controller box. If you feel up to it, you can probably open it, and check the fuse and make sure it's still intact. Use a multimeter on the fuse and check for resistance. There should be zero resistance across the fuse.
Make sure you unplug it from mains BEFORE you start pulling things apart.

I hope fuse is not working.
