Just wanted to update. I recently made a batch of chocolate with my upgraded Santha. It runs perfectly. It ran three days straight with no problems or weird noises. It also totally crushed and reduced the 3 lbs. of nibs with only 2 pushes instead of 20 minutes of pushing every few seconds like with the old motor.

Update.
I'm probably using the Santha more than the average person, but after all, chocolate is a foodgroup to me, and... well... one has to eat every day right?
Anyway, I've now had to take the Santha apart again - this time to replace the belt, which was loose and slipping terribly.
As my furniture company uses a lot of electric motors, we have switched all of our belts from standard black ones to a fibreglass based red "linked belt". These are a series of linked pieces, which make the belt resizeable, don't ever stretch, and grip extremely well. We have not yet had to replace one single link, and some of our industrial equipment runs under heavy load 12-16 hours per day. Why I didn't use this belt in the first place when I changed motors is beyond me. I guess it was just a brain fart. Anyway, while it's quite a bit more expensive, you won't have to take your Santha apart to tighten or replace the belt, and it makes the bowl almost unstoppable with the 1/2hp motor.
My Santha has now been running for two weeks straight with the red belt, and in spite of it being as quiet as the regular belt, the noise of the rollers is beginning to get on my girlfriend's nerves! It's amazing though, how a good chocolate feast calms the nerves......
Hah!

Brad,
Do you know where one could track down one of those belts on-line? Or, is there a store that would exist in the US that should have them?
I replaced the belt when I did the upgrade, so I'm hoping that everything will be fine for some time, but it'll be good to know what to buy for the next belt.
Thanks,
C-L
