I'm really interested in trying my hand at making chocolate from the bean, and the information that is in this forum, and on the Chocolate Alchemy website is fantastic! I would however like to learn the techniques in more detail, and I'm looking for suggestions on books that people have found useful in giving guidance. Thanks!

There are no books on the subject of homemade chocolate. There are a few industrial books but they go for hundreds of dollars...Home chocolate making is not big enough yet for their to be books on it....I would sugget learning on this site and www.chocolateguild.com (my site)...and you can try these books... The Science of Chocolate by Stephen T. Beckett The New Taste of Chocolate by Maricel E. Presilla With those you can starting learning the theory's of working with chocolate and you can gain your own base of making chocolate with trial and error...sorry there isn't more books out there for this kind of thing... aguynamedrobert, Thanks for the pointers, I really appreciate it! I have found that you are right, regarding the lack of information out there. I find that very odd. My two other 'edible' hobbies are homebrewing beer, and cheesemaking. Both of these hobbies have seen a large increase in popularity over the last few decades, for the reason that they are interesting hobbies, process oriented and it's difficult to find people who don't enjoy a good cheese and a good beer. Chocolate really falls into this category, as it's really interesting, process oriented, and everybody likes chocolate. I'm really suprised that more people don't 'homebrew' it.

aguynamedrobert, your web page gives me a page of gibberish. You might like to look at it and tell me if it is the page or my browser that's not working right.

Last time I was over at chocolateguild.com, I saw that Robert was trying to sell the site. Maybe they're doing a little work. Hopefully it comes back!

To the site, it was nice!
Back to the topic: Its true, there isn't too much info out there about chocolate making at home. That is what is truly amazing about the alchemist. He got this trend up and running. Now a whole bunch of people are making chocolate at home! And the chocolate is really really good, I've made sooooo much and sold sooo much at local bake sales and so forth. People love the fact that it is truly gourmet.
