Hey Gabby,
Well, nobody responded! Anyway, we all have to start somewhere and don't give up-I hope you still check this stuff?
Here is a life lesson from my poet laureate Ludacris, "It you want it done right, do it for your god da** self." If it were easy everyone would do it. The first step is to see what you are working with and what kind of local connections you can find. As with everything bussiness in life, you are who you know. If your country is anything like mine then start with the central markets and regions. Find some coffee farmers, sugar farmers "ingenios" friends and family, cousins’ y abueltos- ask everyone! NGO's and the government will be worthless so don't waste you time. Someone you know grows chocolate. Go meet the farmers and watch what they do. They've been doing it for years and you'll learn everything you need to know. Finally, find olde El Coyote or whatever he is called in French/African etc. There should be three to five of these guys. They are brokers and will know every farm, farmer and nook and cranny kakaw exists. Stay with it and don't give up. Give us a shout out at the forum if you have success.
