Hey all We've built the winnower by the design in the files and attached the Champion Juicer so that the nibs would flow down from the juicer to the winnower. The problem I have is that the juicer cracks them too fast for the winnower. Has anyone encountered the same issue and any ideas on how to slow down the speed of the nibs?\ Thank you!

As far as I know, there's no way to slow down the juicer, so any slowing down of the nibs through the winnower would cause a backup. How about using a larger shop-vac?

If your winnower is not keeping up with the Champion then something is wrong. Mine has no issue keeping up. Like Ben suggests, maybe your vac is too weak? In my case, if I fully close both valves all nibs and husks end up in the waste. That's a good indication that the vac is adequate.

Hey Mark and Ben, thank you So I will try with a better vac, I hope this is the issue and not the winnower.

Hi all, It seems like several of you have been successful at building the DIY winnower (version 2). I have purchased all the parts, but am having trouble following the blueprints. Would anyone be willing to post/ email me a few pictures/ videos to help explain how to build this? Especially the placement/ creation of the deflection disc? I would greatly appreciate it.

Finally got around to building one of these a month or two ago. Mounted it to a cart this past weekend. Still need to build a hopper... Everything is the same, except I'm using pvc valves for the vacuum control and discriminator, and a cyclone dust collector to collect the husks. Pic attached. Works great! Hi there, It looks great! May I ask you, how is/ was it working? Is there any upgrades? I'm looking at it and cant understand where the the black pipe goes and how does it suck in? What's the purpose of cyclone if everything collects in the bucket? Thank you!

Hello. It's still in service all these years later and works good enough. No upgrades since building the hopper years ago. The black tubing connects the output of the winnower to the cyclone dust collector. The cyclone is what causes everything to collect in the bucket. Otherwise, it would just flow through to the shop vac which would clog the filter very quickly.
