I think I will try using a halogen lamp I have to heat my santa with just nibs (w/loosened nut). The reason being is I do not currently add any extra cocoa butter to my nibs (just sugar). Without the cocoa butter (if I am understanding the process), the microwave technique does not appear to be a viable alternative.
Either way, it looks like I can skip the Champion which I saw as the weak link in the process anyway.

I've made pure liquor in my Santha before and heat's the way to go (the liquor of a good bean makes killer brownies!)
You could also try using a very tiny amount of liquid lecithin (like 0.3%) which won't affect taste at all, and will help with fluidity once the beans are crushed a bit.
