I did get a wheel stop spinning occasionally, but it was always only one, and always near the end of the process. It didn't have a noticeable effect on the final chocolate, so I never worried too much about it.

If you get the chocolate non-grainy I don't see why not. I fixed it by taking pressure off the wheels, just slightly.
Did you try adjusting the scraper before taking it off? I've found depending on the amount of chocolate it is helpful to adjust the scrapers angle slightly.
Try eliminating one possibility after another, that's what I had to do. Although I never thought off adding pressure on the wheels, won't that make the machine wear out faster? I found a lot of black stuff ground down from the wheels, when the pressure was to much. (it wore out the wheels quicker)
That's why I figured I'd lower the pressure on them.

Voltaire, you were right. I don't know why!? I didn't see it before because I tried to see if it needed more or less pressure on the wheels but nothing really did. Yesterday the wheels stopped again and I thought I was going to try again to go easy on the pressure and the wheels spinned, and spinned fast again. So I tighten my belt around the arm of the melanger to hold it, and keep just enough pressure to finish refining during the night. Now I just have to find a system little bit more definitif to be able to adjust the pressure as needed.

Glad to hear you got it pinpointed, the problem! I'll also start looking at a solution this week - if I find the time. I'm running a 700g batch right now. I want adjustable pressure myself.
I'm thinking of using a longer screw and nut to adjust the pressure on the arm - but on the opposite side of the motor. The screw would allow for adjusting pressure. I'm just afraid it may twist loose from the jumping and bumping in the beginning of the grinding. Well, that's about as far as my thinking has gone right now.

Looks good. I may have to redo mine. I did go by setting the pressure adjuster on the other side - with a screw and nut. Haven't tried it either. Hopefully the next two days.

Do you have picture of your system, I can't figure how you did it. I am little bit curious.
By the way it works quite well for me this new adjustment. I can lose it until it is no more pressure and I can tight it little bit more than it is normally

I forgot to take a pic last time I ran the machine - but it works nicely. If I make another run this week I'll share some pictures.
I just need to improve on the cooling. So that's first.

I have finished doing my modifications.
I attached a small fan inside which is way better then the standard delivered one and allowed it to blow the warm air upwards. Warm air wants to rise anyway, so why not let it?
Been doing several test runs and it runs smoothly and keeps the motor under 32 degrees. The bowl is unaffected. I've forgotten to take pictures, will do so next time I run it I hope.
