I've built a winnowing system based on lots of posts and discussion on this forum and John's designs. One issue that I'm still confused by and I think could be part of the reason I'm having a hard time getting the yield I would like is the 'baffle' that has been mentioned several times at the junction where the nibs/husk enter the air flow. What I'm confused by is that anything that is sufficient to slow down the nibs/husk entering the airflow will then cause accumulation of particles at that spot and then the nibs/husk just go right over the top of the particles now clogged in that space. I read in some of the earlier posts about how having a longer drop tube can help alleviate the necessity for the baffle and it seemed like that was used in John's final design of the Aether Winnower. Any suggestions for controlling the fast flow of cracked beans from the champion into the air flow would be appreciated.
