We're in the start up phase of our bean to bar business and one are we have struggled is finding good quality paper to wrap our bars. We're considering either having our logo and information printed onto paper or just printing designs on paper and putting stickers on our bars (similar to Mast Brothers, Raaka etc.)
We live in a relatively small city so there are few local specialty paper/printing companies and the couple that I've reached out to said they can't do the thinner matte paper we're looking for that is common on most paper wrapped bean to bar chocolates. If anyone could recommend companies you know of that we could potentially work with I would really appreciate it. Any other packaging feedback would also be welcome.
I've always printed my own wrappers, so I don't really have any suggestions. Can the local printing companies suggest something that they could work with? I've seen bars wrapped in thicker paper. If it's thick enough, and they can do die-cutting/scoring, maybe they could make a box or envelope a la Patric, Rogue, Amedei, etc.
We do the same. We do have our own font. Good printer + quality paper + good imagination. We could pay more for our packaging, and we explored that option, but it would result in 1) less sustainable packaging and 2) increased prices for our customers for something they'll throw in the trash. Could more flashy packaging increase our sales? I'm not sure it would. The very last thing I want to see is one of my wrappers blowing down the street.
