I am mullling over a homemade chocolate making competition. Prizes would include various pieces of equipment, molds and cocoa beans.
What would make a good competition?
What kind of prizes would entice you to enter? Do prizes even matter?
I am thinking maybe a Behmor 1600 for the grand prize. Since no one has one yet it would be a good item.

Aloha! A contest would be fun and revealing. How do we vote for it? You can count me in! Thanks Sharkman

Note a lot of activity here, but I think I will start putting together some more solid ideas.

I'd be up for it. The sooner the better, before it becomes too hot to ship in some areas.

Aloha! Chocolates could be judged in categories{dark;milk;white} with prizes for 1;2 and maybe 3rd. With the judges picking a grand champion. Alchemy John could select a panel of judges to help him select the winners. Tasting should be done blind and enough chocolate should be submitted to be re-tasted a few times. It would be easier and better to ship the chocolate to one place;and tasted in one setting. Tips from wine tasting days! Aloha Sharkman

Did this idea ever get off the ground? I still think it would be a good idea. Maybe we should have some different categories, like those more skilled at chocolate making (have their own businesses making and selling chocolates) and those that are fairly novice. So the skill level has a category as well as the type of chocolate being submitted.

No, this never got off the ground. Now might be a good time to rev it up again. The ship and have it in the cool weather months.

I think the grand prize should be a metric ton of Ocumare cocoa beans!
