Hello,
Firstly, let me preface this by saying this is my first post on this forum, so I hope I am writing it in the correct place. Additionally I tried to find my information in the search tab but couldn't find anything directly related to my question.
Now to the question.
I have been making chocolate bars (L x W x H : 10cm x 10cm x 0.6cm) for the past year using PETG custom moulds and they have served me very well. But recently the time has come to replace them, and I am looking at purchasing Tomric custom moulds - however the price is quite high so I was looking for clarification before I outlay that amount of money. I have previously asked these questions to the customer service representative at Tomric but I would appreciate help from anyone here who has used both types of moulds, as I'm not sure if I'm just being politely told what I want to hear.
The main problem I have had is with the bowing, that is to say that are slightly concave in shape almost like a very subtle "U" shape, of the chocolate and I am not sure if this is due to: - The PETG material being very thin and having a certain amount of flexibilty - The thickness of the bar at 0.6cm - The chocolate cooling quicker on the outside than the inside and therefore the sides slightly curling up - Something I haven't thought about.
If anyone has advice they are willing to share about this, I would greatly appreciate it.

I use Tomric molds and have been very happy with them. Several years ago, I would sometimes get a little curve on my darkest (85%) bar, but if I remember correctly, I found that it was not due to the mold. I think it was either due to cooling too quickly or possibly over-tempering.
I have custom Tomric molds now and haven't had any problem with the curve in years.

One other point I would like to make on this topic: be careful of the temperature at which you wash and rinse the thinner, non-polycarbonate molds. You can warp them if your wash/rinse temp is too high. And never, ever put them in a dishwasher. DAMHIKT!

Not sure if these are the types of molds Chip is referencing, but I regularly put my Tomric molds in the dishwasher (with no detergent) and haven't had any problems with warping. Note that they are polycarbonate, just vacuum-formed instead of injection-molded.

The thinner, non-polycarbonate molds is what I was referring to.
