I've been using a Crankandstein mill for 4 years. It does the job, but we have to wrestle with it when cracking the beans. The common problem is the rollers just don't grab the beans well enough, and they just sit on top as the rollers spin. So we have to use a tool to push the beans down until the rollers grab them and break them.
Any tips for the Crankandstein?
What do you use?
Has anyone tried an electric nut cracker? I'm curious if the one from automaticnutcracker.com would be a good pre-mill solution.
Thanks!

I never had that problem with a Crankandstein. Are the rollers maybe packed with ground beans causing them to not be able to grab the beans?
I currently use a Champion juicer which works well enough. There's lots of discussion of using it as a cracker here on the forums and on the CA site.
From what I can see of how the electric nut cracker you linked works, I'm not sure it would work very well for cacao. I've emailed them to ask if they've tested it with cacao.
