Hi Everyone I have just purchased a premier wonder grinder. On making my chocolate today my grinder started off fine. As the day has worn on I have a knocking sound in my grinder in the base which is made worse by screwing the stone wheels down tighter ? Is this normal, sounds like something is being ground in the base ? If take the bowl off the noise disappears
Im only refining 1kg
Any my advice would be appreciated
thanks Nettie

Hi Nettie, I'm not sure, but my experience with my grinder has been that it was relatively loud in the beginning, and then after a few batches I think it worn in, so the noise level went down. Although it still produces quite some noise, it is not a problem for me. I also let it run in a acoustically insulated cardboard box (so I can let it run during the nights and not have everybody awake ) Obviously it is very difficult for me to say something about your grinder, but from my limited experience I would say some noise has to be expected, and mostly in the beginning. If it doesn't start to improve after five or ten batches, there might be something else. Taking the bowl off and not having the noise would be a signal to me that the motor within its enclosure is OK. I also do batches of 1 kg

Hi, I have the premier chocolate and it makes noise as well. The stone on stone nature of the melange is inherently noisy, and the tighter you make the stones, the more noise they generally make because you are increasing the pressure/tension on the stones.

Hi Chip, itโs not the stones that are making the noise it a tapping clunking sound from the base of the unit. ๐

Take the drum off of the motor then turn the unit on. If it is still making noise you will need to remove the motor cover and see if any foreign material got in to the motor area. Once I found some chocolate in there because my melange sounded like a chicken. Really, actually like a chicken!!
