Hello! Just wondering if anyone has any experience with a bean breaker similar in design to the crankandstein but with two rollers instead of 3? I've been looking at buying the crankandstein but I'm having problems sourcing one in the UK without having to buy from America and pay for shipping and tax, but I have found ones available over here with two rollers. Would be greatful for any input anyone has

I have tried a barley mill, with 2 rollers. (for homebrewers) However the fat content of the bean made them slip and not grip the beans. It did not work for me.
I now use a cast iron corn grinder (Mcgyvering around a bit with the grinder gap) with a satisfying result. I am in Austria and bought it over Amazon.

Thanks Emil, the brewers one was what I was hoping would work but is this more like the one you use?www.amazon.co.uk/Premium-Quality-Grinder-Wheat-Grains/dp/B000U5NZ4I

The crankandstein is essentially just two normal mills in-line with the gap being a bit smaller on the second crack. If you had an adjustable mill, you could approximate the action of the crankandstein by passing the beans through twice and reducing the gap on the second pass.

Thanks both, think I will give the grain mill a try and see how it goes, my current set up uses a juicer but I'm finding that I get a lot of whole beans passing through

update - I took delivert of the cast iron grain mill yesterday, initial results are promising, passed a batch of beans through pretty quickly (or quick compared to my previous method!) with no issues. I'd recommend it to anyone who is looking to break small - medium quantities as an entry point before upgrading to something with an engine!

I bought this one, it's good for smaller quantities but I ended up finding a motor powered industrial breaker second hand that I now use Thanks Emil, the brewers one was what I was hoping would work but is this more like the one you use?www.amazon.co.uk/Premium-Quality-Grinder-Wheat-Grains/dp/B000U5NZ4I
