Monstie,
I have the premier wet grinder and I love it. I know someone else that has both the premier and the Cocoatown and says the results are very similar. I think all of them have their differences but all of them get the job done. Some perhaps you can get the same results in a shorter time, etc., it just depends and would be hard to know without doing a side by side comparison. However, I can say I have had no problems with my grinder and it is a little powerhouse. I have let it run for days without a problem.

Ben, for folks that have successfully used the tilting 2L version, have they told you the maximum capacity of chocolate they could make? I think folks have said the 1.5L Premier can do up to 7 lbs of chocolate, although <6 lbs was considered a more comfortable range? I'm basically curious to know how comparable the 2L Premier is to the Santha Spectra 11? Using the ratio of 2L/1.5L = 1.3333, I'm wondering if I can assume that the 2L version can scale up from the 1.5L Premier by 1.3333 (basically, max out at around 9 lbs...like the Spectra 11)?
Also, have these folks mentioned any drawbacks using the tilting version compared to the non-tilting 1.5L Premier?

My tilting version is as yet unused, but I can let you know how it goes next week

lilypa: I haven't had any direct communication with anyone using the tilting version--I've just seen a post or two here and/or on the chocolate life.

I wonder if the grinding wheels are the same size in the 2L vs the 1.5 L and the bowl just has taller sides or if the 2L version actually has heavier and possibly wider grinding wheels?

The wheels are wider in the 2L version, and the bowl is both wider and taller.

Hey Lyndon,
I wondering if you could measure and post the following dimensions of your 2L tilting Premier: 1) weight of roller wheel assembly, 2) wheel width, 3) inner bowl diameter, and 4) bowl height above the granite base?
My Premier 1.5L roller-wheel assembly weighed 4.35 lbs. My Santha Spectra 11 roller-wheel assembly weighed 8.29 lbs. NOTE: they both have a few ounces of dried chocolate on them currently.
One wheel on the 1.5L Premier is 1 3/8" wide, while one Spectra 11 wheel is 2 3/8" wide.
The Premier bowl has an 8" inner diameter and a height above the granite base of about 5 1/2", while the Spectra 11 has an ID of 9 7/8" and a height above the granite base slightly more than 5 3/4".

Hmmm... Thanks Lyndon. Seems like the 2L Premier has about the same size bowl as the Spectra 11, but much smaller and lighter wheels. I wonder if it spins faster than the Santha, which is spec'd at 120 rpm. Have you made any chocolate with it yet Lyndon?
Do you have any other wet grinders? If so, how does it compare?

I have not made any chocolate with it yet, so I can't compare it. I have a delivery of cocoa butter that's been delayed, and I can do nothing until it arrives, hopefully next week. I just have this one, and the 1.5 litre version.

Got it. Well, I'd love to hear your impressions of the 2L and how it compares to the 1.5L if you can remember in the future.
Cheers, Dave
