Premier Wonder Wet Stone Grinder

I bought a Premier Wonder Wet Grinder recently for making chocolate at home. I thought I'd start this section for others who have one (I have seen elsewhere on the boards cheebs does) to post thoughts/questions etc.

I've made 5 batches of chocolate in mine now. I've made milk, dark and white with a shortest run time of 11 hours straight and longest of 30 hours straight. The smallest batch size I have run so far is 800g and the largest was just under 2kg - I think it could comfortably have held more though.

The machine seems to have held up pretty well so far

One thing I have noticed which others have mentioned with their Santhas is the bowl seems a little "off-balance". Has anyone opened up a Premier Wonder grinder yet to look at the insides? Have people found they needed to change the belt within a short space of time?

Also, the nuts holding the stone wheels in place look invitingly easy to undo to make cleaning the unit easier. Has anyone tried this yet? (I'm worried that I might not be able to get it all back together once I start taking things apart).

Hope to hear about other peoples use of the unit.

Gap I was just wondering if the bowl clip off or is it attached like the santha?

feedme - I am using the grinder in Australia which is 240v power. Mine actually shipped direct from India with the Indian plug still on it - I just bought one of those travel plug converters and run it that way.

I'm not sure what you mean re the bowl clip off. If you look at the picture from the link above, the stainless steel bowl comes away from the bottom of the machine (which houses the motor). There is a shaft up the middle of the bowl which you put the stone wheels on, so they come away from the bowl as well. Not sure if that answers your question or not.

John post says Wonder Stone Wet Grinder while on the Amazon, it says Premier Wonder Table Top Grinder.

The picture is the same though, it's a generic picture, so I am curious to know if this is the correct grinder to conch cocoa liquor?

I see that there is a 2.0 L version for not that much price difference ($193 vs $230 - $37 difference).

I noticed the 2L version, too, but I figured it would be easier to wash the removable bowl in the smaller version. I'm planning to just use it for test batches of 3-5 lbs, so I wasn't too worried about the smaller size.

Also, I received mine the other day and it's the right one. I'm running my first batch in it right now and seems to be doing a good job.

The center shaft has a big hole in the back that nibs or chocolate could easily get into. Has anyone had any problems with that? Do you just have to make sure to clean it out at some point during the batch to make sure that everything gets refined?

I've filled this pup up well over the hole (7.5 lbs). Yeah it gets in, and you have to clean it out, but have yet to have it really cause any issue.

What is the minimum cocoa liquor that I can use with this grinder? I understand this grinder can take 7.5 lbs, but can I conch like 500 gram of cocoa liquor with this grinder? will it break the grinder if it's not too much liquor to conch ?

I've done 650g of nibs in my last batch. I refined those for 20 minutes before adding 275g of sugar.

Thanks. I am guessing that small amount would not hurt the grinder. :)

I am reading this grinder more in details and it seems like this grinder can also process the nibs into the liquor AND then conch the liquor to refine the liquor.

If I do that (nibs -> liquor -> conch) using just this Premier rather than using a Champion as a separate dedicated machine for nibs -> liquor and Premier as the liquor -> conch, how would it affect the wear and tear of the Premier Grinder?
